Scary Movie 6 will mark the return of the beloved horror movie spoof series, and there is already a ton of exciting news about the latest comedy. The Sequel Is Confirmed With The Wayans Family

Though rumblings of a new movie in the spoof franchise came earlier in 2024, the latest news confirms that Scary Movie 6 is happening. What was originally teased as a reboot has now been clarified to be Scary Movie 6, and what's more, the minds behind the original film are returning. Known for their genre-defying approach to humor, Marlon, Shawn, and Keenan Ivory Wayans are all going to be part of Scary Movie 6. Though the full scope of their participation remains unknown, they'll likely have a lot of creative input behind the scenes.

The Wayans expressed their excitement for the project, saying:

We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again. This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again. We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It’s a double reunion.

Over a decade after the last film was released, a reboot of Scary Movie has been announced that will bring the franchise into the modern age. Paramount and Miramax are teaming up once again to bring Scary Movie 6 to life, but little else is known about the project yet. More details emerged in October 2024, when it was revealed that the Wayans would be involved with the film, but the extent of their roles is unknown. Marlon and Shawn Wayans helped write the original Scary Movie in 2000, and they will return to the project as part of the cast. It's unclear what level of creative input they will have, but their unique brand of humor is what made those Aughts classics so memorable. Keenan Ivory Wayans had a small role in Scary Movie, but he is most remembered for directing the film. He is set to return for Scary Movie 6, though it's unclear if he will be directing or merely acting.
